The Shado-Pan is a warring faction that protects the Pandaren lands.Specifically, they guard the Serpent Spine, the great wall that separatesthe Pandaren from the Yaungol and the Mantid.

After reaching level 90, you will be able to increase your reputation withthe Shado-Pan by doing daily quests at the Shado-Pan Garrison in the TownlongSteppes. There, you will have to attack nearby Yaungol, Mantid, and Mogu outposts.

In this guide, we will detail the three questing locations and explain how toobtain all the related achievements.

1. Overview↑top

Every day, you will be able to do the daily quests proposed at the Shado-PanGarrison in the Townlong Steppes. These daily quests will send you questingat 1 of 3 questing locations where you will always do 4 warm-upquests before doing a final quest, during which you will have to kill an elite mob.

Every day, you will be able to choose a Shado-Pan NPC who will accompany youthrough the quests, helping you fight your foes. Every now and then, you willbe offered a challenge quest at the Shado-Pan Garrison, during whichyou will need to defeat a Shado-Pan champion. Succeeding will unlock the helpof this NPC for your daily quests.

From the point of view of the reputation grind, you will earn 250 reputationfrom each of the daily quests, meaning that you will earn 1,250 reputation a day.If you get a challenge quest, then you will earn an additional350 reputation.

You can earn another 400 reputation a day by doing the Shado Pan Work Orderat your farm (see our Tillers guide).

Note that you can easily reach (almost) honoredreputation by simply doing all the Shado-Pan quests in Townlong Steppes.

After reaching exalted reputation, there willbe a mini quest line to serve as a conclusion to your adventures with theShado-Pan.

1.1. Grand Commendation of the Shado-Pan

As soon as you reach revered reputation withthe Shado-Pan, make sure to purchase the Grand Commendation of the Shado-Pan fromthe faction quartermaster. Usingthis item will allow you to reach exalted reputationmuch faster.

1.2. Champion A Faction

In order to increase your reputation gains with the Shado-Pan, you canchoose to champion them in the reputation tab of your characterpanel. This will cause you to gain addition reputation when doing variousactivities, but mostly through running Heroic dungeons and scenarios.

2. Rewards↑top

All the rewards, with the exception of one mount, can be bought fromRushi the Fox, the Shado-Pan Quartermaster, who is located at theShado-Pan Garrison in the Townlong Steppes.

2.1. Tabard

After reaching exalted reputation, you canbuy the Shado-Pan Tabard, which costs 10 .

2.2. Mounts

After reaching exalted reputation, you will begiven a few quests which will eventually reward you withthe Reins of the Onyx Cloud Serpent. During the Mists of Pandaria beta, we madea short video to show the various Cloud Serpent mounts we had collected:

In addition, you can buy three ground mounts:

• Reins of the Blue Shado-Pan Riding Tiger: 500 ;
• Reins of the Green Shado-Pan Riding Tiger: 1,500 ;
• Reins of the Red Shado-Pan Riding Tiger: 2,500 .

• Stack of Stone Blocks costs 50 and can be used to summon astack of stone blocks that you can break.

2.6. Achievements and Title

In addition to Shado-Pan, which you will earn after reachingexalted, you can alsoearn the following achievements:

• Know Your Role;
• Fire in the Yaung-hole!;
• Silent Assassin;
• Proven Strength;
• Loner and a Rebel;
• Getting Around with the Shado-Pan;
• Defender of Gods.

Completing the aforementioned achievements, will grant you the Shado-Panmeta-achievement, The Shado-Master, and the corresponding title,the Shado-Master title.

3. Daily Quests↑top

Every day, you will be given one of three sets of daily quests. Each set ofdaily quests is named (according to the type of NPC that will accompany you,see next section) and takes place in a specific area of the TownlongSteppes:

• Omnia Mystics (at Shan'ze Dao);
• Blackguard Defenders (at Deadtalker's Plateau and Fire Camp Gai Cho);
• Wu Kao Assassins (at Sra'vess).

In each case, you will do 4 daily quests, which you can turn in to theNPC accompanying you (see below), before having to kill an elite enemy unit in a finalquest.

3.1. Shado-Pan Heroes

Every day, you will be able to chose a Shado-Pan Hero to accompany youin your daily quests. They will fight by your side, taunt the adds and makethe daily quests a lot easier. The following NPCs are available:

• Chao the Voice;
• Fei Li;
• Hawkmaster Nurong;
• Lao-Chin the Iron Belly;
• Protector Yi;
• Snow Blossom;
• Tenwu of the Red Smoke;
• Taoshi;
• Yalia Sagewhisper.

Not all of the NPCs will be available on a given day. It has beenreported by aWowhead user that each NPC is tied to a particular set of daily quests.Additionally, only 3 NPCs are available initially, the other NPCs are unlockedat later stages by completing quests that will be given at the Garrison.

The NPCs accompanying you will assist you with their abilities. Omnia Mysticsare like Frost Mages, they are DPS casters with a lot of slowing abilities. BlackguardDefenders are tanks, they will taunt enemies and survive for a bit. Wu Kao Assassinsare Rogues, they will put you in Stealth mode when you are out of combat.

3.2. Omnia Mystics Quests

The Omnia Mystics daily quests are given to you byBan Bearheart at the Shado-Pan Garrison. They will send you tothe northern island of Shan'ze Dao, where you will have to preventthe Mogu from experimenting with Cloud Serpents.

Depending on the day, you will get one of these 3 mini quest lines.

• Quest Line #1:
  • First four quests: The Mogu Menace, Egg Rescue!, Little Hatchlings, Spiteful Sprites;
  • Final quest: In Sprite Of Everything (automatically given).
• Quest Line #2:
  • First four quests: The Mogu Menace, Born Free, Dark Arts, Onyx Hearts;
  • Final quest: Riding the Storm (automatically given).
• Quest Line #1:
  • First four quests: The Mogu Menace, Bronze Claws, Illusions Of The Past, Grave Consequences;
  • Final quest: When The Dead Speak (automatically given).

None of these quests is complicated enough to warrant a detailed explanation.Simply keep in mind that for In Sprite Of Everything, the NPC you haveto kill is located in a cave, the entrance of which is just south of thequest objective on your map.

The first time you reach Shan'ze Dao, you will be able to takethe Through the Portal quest from Moshu the Arcane. He islocated inside the cave in the southern part of the island, wherethe Shado-Pan has established a small outpost. Completing this questrequires you to gather 1,000 Ancient Arcane Powder, whichmostly drop from Darkwoods Charmers (small creatures that you findin the south-western part of the island). You will be rewardedwith a portal that you can take to freely transport your characterfrom the Shado-Pan Garrison to Shan'ze Dao and vice versa.

3.3. Blackguard Defenders Quests

The Blackguard Defenders daily quests are given to you byMaster Snowdrift at the Shado-Pan Garrison. They willsend you to Deadtalker's Plateau and Fire Camp Gai Cho, just north-east of the Garrison,where you will have to deal with the Yaungol.

Every day, you will be given the following quests.

• First four quests:
  1. Assault Deadtalker's Plateau (Deadtalker's Plateau);
  2. Spirit Dust or The Deadtalker Cipher (Deadtalker's Plateau, both);
  3. Assault Fire Camp Gai-Cho (Fire Camp Gai Cho);
  4. The Enemy of My Enemy... Is Still My Enemy! (Fire Camp Gai Cho).
• Final quest: Uruk! (Deadtalker's Plateau) or Cheng Bo! (Fire Camp Gai Cho).

3.4. Wu Kao Assassins Quests

The Wu Kao Assassins daily quests are given to you byLing of the Six Pools at the Shado-Pan Garrison. They willsend you to Sra'vess to wreck havoc on the base that the Mantid haveestablished there.

Every day, you will be given the following quests.

• First four quests:
  1. Sra'vess Wetwork;
  2. The Bigger They Come...;
  3. Two of the following:
     • Destroy the Siege Weapons!;
     • A Morale Victory;
     • Fumigation;
     • Friends, Not Food!;
• Final quest: Target of Opportunity: Sra'thik Hivelord or Target of Opportunity: Sra'thik Swarmlord.

Note that the NPC accompanying you will put in a sort of Stealth modewhen you are not in combat or interacting with objects, allowing you to moverather freely around the Mantid mobs.

Also, The Bigger They Come..., can be hard. There are about 4 or 5 such elite mobspatrolling the island, so they can be difficult to find when too many players are alsodoing the daily quests. Some of the elite mobs or their accompanying mobs have a sortof fear, which will often cause you to pull more mobs into the fight, so be careful.

4. Shado-Pan Finale↑top

When you reach exalted reputation,Master Snowdrift will give you Mogu Incursions,which is followed by Surprise Attack!.

Completing these quests will grant you the Defender of Godsachievement as well as the Reins of the Onyx Cloud Serpent.

It is possible that you need to have obtained Cloud Serpent Ridingbefore being given the quests.

5. Achievements↑top

By reaching exalted reputation with theShado-Pan, you will automatically get the Defender of Gods and The Shado-Master achievements. Additionally, you will have donethe daily quests enough times to have received all thechallenge quests, thus triggering the Proven Strengthachievement. In the next sections, we explainhow to get the remaining achievements:

• Know Your Role;
• Fire in the Yaung-hole!;
• Silent Assassin;
• Loner and a Rebel;
• Getting Around with the Shado-Pan;

5.1. Know Your Role

To complete Know Your Role, you need to complete each of theBlackguard Defenders daily quests without taking damage frommonsters. Without taking damage means not getting hit; for example,if you get hit while under the protection of a shield, such as Ice Barrier,you will fail the objective.

Our first advice for this achievement, is to take one quest at a time. Thereason for this is simple. If you have several Blackguard Defendersquests in your journal and you get hit, then you will fail them all and you willhave to abandon them.

Our second advice is to group with a friend and let them do all the work,while standing at a safe distance. The next day, you can repay the favor.

If you cannot get anyone to help you, then you will have to heavily rely onyour Shado-Pan companion. One problem with that is that many mobs will stilltarget you with their abilities, even if the Shado-Pan companion is tauntingthem.

5.2. Fire in the Yaung-hole!

To complete Fire in the Yaung-hole!, you need to kill 15 mobs at the sametime during The Enemy of My Enemy... Is Still My Enemy!. During this quest, you haveto kill Mantid and Yaungol combatants at Fire Camp Gai Cho, using Highly Explosive Yaungol Oil (found at the camp).

At the battlefield (where the fighting occurs), you need towait until a large group of Mantid attacks a large group of Yaungol.Then use the explosives when you can target both groups at the same time.It looks as if the explosives do not always kill the targets right awayand leave a DoT. In this case, you can simply toss another load ofexplosives to finish the enemies. They should still counttowards the completion of the achievement.

5.3. Silent Assassin

To complete Silent Assassin, you need to kill exactlythe right amount of mobs during the Sra'vess Wetwork andThe Bigger They Come.... This means 4 elite Mantid mobs and15 lesser Mantid mobs. Once you have turned in thesequests, you will be assured to get the achievement uponcompleting the final quest of the day (even if you kill theadds next to the final elite mob).

Players have reported that turning in the final quest while mountedcan prevent the achievement from triggering.

5.4. Loner and a Rebel

Loner and a Rebel is a very straightforward achievement to complete. Simplydo each set of daily quests without a Shado-Pan companion. This means that youmust have the Choose a Shado-Pan Companion buff active from the moment youtake the daily quests to the moment you turn in the final quest.

Omnia Mystics and Blackguard Defenders will normally not poseproblems. Wu Kao Assassins is another story. Without a companion inSra'vess, you will not be put into Stealth mode. This means that quests likeFumigation will take a lot more time and will be more dangerous.

5.5. Getting Around with the Shado-Pan

Completing the Getting Around with the Shado-Pan achievementrequires you to do 15 daily quests with each of the 9 Shado-Pancompanions. This means 3 days worth of daily quests for eachcompanion, so 27 days in total (more if you are unlucky andnever get one set of dailies).

Make sure to dismount before turning in the quests, as otherwise you willnot get credit for the achievement's objectives.
